College Park Center Production Team Wins Sports Media Award

The Production Services team at College Park Center at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) was honored with the “Outstanding Live Game Production” award at the annual Sports Video Group (SVG) College Sports Media Awards on May 28.

The SVG awards, which marked its 17th year in 2025, awarded the team at College Park Center for its coverage of the 2024 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Championship game in which UTA emerged victorious against Grand Canyon University. The production managers the week of the WAC tournament were Dakota Michell, assistant director, and Erica Johnson, senior production manager.

“This award embodies the passion and professionalism our production team gives to every event,” says Jeff Davis, CVE CVP CMP, executive director of College Park Center.  “To be recognized amongst their peers on a national level speaks to their dedication and quality of workmanship”

The production managers also recognize the spectacular production crew at College Park Center that worked on the award-winning content and contribute to the standard of excellence at the arena;  Alejandro Jimenez as director/TD, Meghan Lambert on Xpression, Scott Snyder and recent UTA graduate, (then UTA student) Haley Yates, on replay. Rick Trujillo, Fred Piggee, Alex Beckwith, Michael Guthrie, and Scott Kustka on camera. Audio Engineer Ursulo Castillo and Eddie Flach as the audio board operator. “Our team pulled off something great that week,” says Michell. “Seven broadcasts in three days with some of the best crew DFW has to offer. That final broadcast was something special, and receiving this recognition speaks volumes about the hard work, passion, and dedication our team brings to every show at College Park Center.”

College Park Center underwent an extensive upgrade of its broadcast facilities in 2023, to remain on the cutting edge of live event production technology. The arena continues to invest in facility improvements with the goal of providing the best atmosphere for concerts, sports, conferences and many other types of events.
